They're technically "transfer punches", don't see them in too many stores but they are easy to find online

Sweet deal.
And even better that you were able to modify it to fit instead of having to trade it for a different one you could use.

Dave ,
The center punches set or "Transfer Punch" set came from Enco 1-800-873-3626
I use them a lot , they only put a small ding in the metal but you can go back
with a regular harden center punch and refined the hole deeper to prevent the drill
bit from walking around when you drill.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not try'n to rain on your parade. I went down the same path that you're going down. I started out with a grey market 5' tiller and made adapter bracket similar to yours. I hook a small tree root and the tiller jumped up a little and started shaking badly. I stopped and raised the unit up and what I had was totally bent up piece of crap. My new tiller lugs (1/2" plate) twisted the oem lugs to unrecognizable scrape metal. I went back the shop a cut ALL remaining lugs off and went back with end to end 1/2" plate with a 6" wing welded the back side of the tube and the main draft lugs pulled of that, also added large reinforcement triangle gussets from outer ends to draft lugs all 1/2" plate. I didn't stop there. I cut off all the single bolt tine holders and welded on 3/8" flanges and went and bought Kingkutter tines and put on it. I spent about two weeks cutting, grinding and welding and then used it hard for 5 yrs. Oh by the way my tractor, a JM 354 Jinma. bjr

Love to see some photos of all that work you did on your tiller . But I am not too concerned about roots or rocks
as my garden has been tilled for years and about the only thing I have down there is dirt . We tilled a 50 foot
path with it on virgin ground over at my friends house after I changed oil . It did a fine job of tiling that ground
looked like powder dust . I think he said his yanmar is 23 or 25 hp but the way it smokes it still managed to till
a nice row. I have been plowing my the garden with a disk and then have been using a walk behind tiller for rows .
This Free 5 foot tiller is going to park that walk behind for good. I think these tillers were designed for small rice
fields in Japan . I can tell you they are not for rocky ground or soil that has
not been plowed first .

:laughing:Ok I finally got around to getting over to the tractor supply store to get
a slip clutch . Well now I can safely say that this ain't no more Free tiller folks .
As you can see where the buck stops it cost $220 .
The good news is all my careful measurement with the string and plumbob and square
have payed off sorta kinda .Either that or the tractor gods were shining down on my tape measure
and laughing .The drive shaft from my wood chipper is short and payed for so all
measurements were taken to use it . It was soon apparent at the store that the clutch
must be attached to the implement end . Know how I figured that one out ? Thats what
it said on the sticker. This presented a new problem the diameter of the clutch would interfere
with the sheet metal from the tiller. But laying right next to it was a PTO Adaptor for 26.99 .
So the space I had allotted for the Quick Hitch is now being used by the PTO Adaptor .
This is not what I wanted to do, But like my grandpa always said you got the "Cart before the Horse boy"
Never the less I have already cut and drilled my angle iron at 11.5 inches and will weld it
up as it is . I would suggest 14.5 inches if you use the Harbor Freight quick hitch.
So future builders take note to include the distance taken between your quick hitch
when fitting this to your tractor or your drive shaft may fall out when you lower it in the ground.
Once I finish this project I will post a scale drawing . The photos show a near perfect fit
adapter ,clutch and driveshaft, Of course without the quick hitch.
:dance1:pS If any of you Yanmar owners need this top link let me know it is for sale and fits
in a one price shipping box .
