I especially like the nose with that emblem top center for looks.

I thought you like working on them? that one looks like there's nothing left to do. Will you find any chores for it or is it just for show?

JB.

Found this one in lousiana.

And yes.. i generally like to find units needing refurbishment.. however.. 541 are so rare.. I took a chance on this one. Last offset I found was an early 2000 4cyl offset.. and it was probably too far gone to restore.. front end was beat and missing parts and welded on.. lift didn't work and was missing the special upper lift arms.. steering was shot.. tin was gone.. no brakes.. broke manifold.. no muffler.. no air cleaner.. no throttle or choke linkage.. etc.. etc... just a beater all around.. and guy wanted 3400$ for it..

this 541..for as good as it looks.. still needs work... It has plenty of broke off bolts that need to be extracted.. also the starter safety interlock is not hooke dup and an automotive key-start switch and incorrect solenoid has been installed. oil pressure gauge was broke ( partially functional ), dash charge indicator lamp broke / missing.. wiring shot.. brake linkages disconnected..missing small parts. overall shows neglect to maintenance and service items.

It will likely be a 1-month project to get her up to what I like to have.

yes.. she will be a work tractor.. I now have a garden.. and a cultivating tractor will be nicer to run in it, vs my 660 with front end loader.

Congratulations on the unique find. That's a good looking tractor. I never knew Ford made a tractor like this until my mom gave me a book about old Ford tractors about 15 yrs ago and there was a picture of one of these offset tractors in the back of the book. You don't usually see too many of these, but I see them on occassion at larger tractor shows like at Denton, NC. It's not too unusual for someone in the Ford owners group to have one on display, and they always attract a lot of attention. Have fun with it!

Nice looking tractor, Soundguy. There are always things to do on an older tractor, but that one looks like ti will be well worth the work. I'd love to see a side view if you get the chance sometime.

SG: any idea how many 541s were manufactured in 1959? I checked all my Ford references and couldn't come up with a number.

I was more fortunate in finding out comparable info for the 1951 Minneapolis Moline BF gasser that I bought a few months ago and is now just about completely disassembled. It's s/n is R4230 which makes it a 1951 model, which is the year MM bought B.F. Avery (the MM BF is a rebadged Avery Model R). If the s/n's run sequentially, then there were 2621 BFs built in 1951

I have no idea.. but am guessing 'few'. ford used sequental serial numbers within a run.. so all '01' machines from 58-62 got sn's as they rolled off the line, first come, first served.

Judging by the reduced parts availability ( just about all the parts that are not shared by other 00/01 tractors are listed as -NLS- ).. I'd say.. very few.. etc.

Yes, I noticed that Ford lumped all the models in the 01 line together when issuing serial numbers. I was hoping that someone, somewhere had other information to figure out the production numbers for the 01 models. I wonder if such info actually exists.
