The woman owned, disadvantage owned and minority owned businesses is usually a requirement on projects in Illinois. We did construction staking and often lost out because we weren’t one of those. Some of these companies were just owned by a DBE on paper while some were legitimate. I always remember a woman that owned a seeding and mulch company running the equipment all the time.
My wife owns a backhoe service company.

I once sold a 5' king kutter tiller to an Amish family, they came to look at it and said we will take it and gave me the cash for the tiller. I said let me get my tractor, that thing is heavy. Before I could even take two steps to get the tractor all 4 of them grabbed that tiller and put it on their trailer. LOL. I tried to help but they had it. My youngest son was with me and we still laugh about it.

Just bring a couple of amish men and ask them what their estimate would be. They will bring about 10 other amish and carry that crap out of the river. You just add on 20% and give them rides for the next few months.

Still “on”, but the Museums fiscal budget year is coming to an end and they have had to prioritize funds into a remodeling project.

It won’t be long until new funds are available….hopefully when theres a drought, the river is low, and we can wade out there and cut it all loose.

I hope you stipulate in the bid that the work will be performed if and when the water is at a [specified] reasonable level

Did you ever get your final permits from the county, Army Corps, Coast Guard and Space Force?

Big flood could come and wash it all downstream.

Kinda hard to bid in advance when the river can change things overnight.

My sense is that the OP has a good relationship with the client. They need him more than he needs them.

The PR might not be good if this job was being done for the NC and then some environmental permit that was needed wasn't obtained.

Been doing my reading a lot lately on wetlands and all for personal reasons; in my area, I believe it would be a demolition and/or clearing permit from county public works; a CSX RR ROW permit; ACE; and Water Management District permit, for mechanized clearing within a wetland :). That should be it, but we probably need to have our Indigo Snake bulletin clearly displayed; audit for avian raptor nesting, and of coarse all of our mantee netting ;)

No space force on this job; unless you need starlink

And don't forget to get a 1099 form! !
If you see any spotted salamanders the project is off until contacting the proper authorities.

He will get the 1099 after he does the work, don’t worry.

Hey Jon,

Uhhhh I don’t know, why do you ask?
How do you “close a thread”?

Do you want to close it?
I was thinking leave it open should the log removal get underway. 🤷‍♂️

I just laugh at some of the crazy responses coming up. I know you have everything under control on this possible project. Jon

I had to pay an engineer to map a wetland and design a retaining pond. We can’t dump the discharge (strictly rainwater) into the wetland because apparently you can’t make a wetland more wet. My project has been on hold for the better part of the year waiting for the engineer drawings.
