Tractor
Kubota RTV 1100c, JD 740,Kioti DK 40 with KL401 loader .
After having my gravity fed diesel tank in one spot for the last 15 years decided to move it to a new location bad move on my part.Must have agitated the water in the bottom of my tank, filled up my kioti tractor and kubota rtv 900 both were dead with water in the fuel.PIA getting both up and running again had to drain both tanks and change both fuel filters.Drained the diesel tank completely with new filter.

I regularly drain off the junk in the bottom of my 500 gallon bulk tank and I add Powerservice biocide and Diesel Kleen as well.

Bummer. I killed my Jeep getting fuel from a station that was getting the tanks refilled. Something I won’t do again. The new filter setup will take all the guess work out of it now. Some Biobor would help clean things up

Have done the same.

Did the filter bowl completely fill with water?

Did not have the new filter in place that I do now on the bottom of my tank. The in line fuel filter on the hose showed very little water contamination when petcock was drained. The reason for the new added fuel filter setup.

OH! I didn't read carefully and thought the picture in the first post was the "set up" that let you down.

I always like to think that a sight glass of some type is better than a metal can. But "regular maintenance" can work even if I can't see inside. ;-)

I’m glad it worked out okay. You got off easy!!

On the farm we learned early on the importance of clean fuel. Whether it’s from the storage or transfer tank, diesel is filtered every step of the way before it hits the tractor or trucks tank.

We don’t bother with having to remember buying or adding additives anymore. The fuel delivery driver dumps a couple jugs in and adds it to the bill. Much more efficient!

I run 2 filters on my tank. A water separator like yours and then a 5 micron (I think) second filter to polish the fuel. Hopefully when it goes in the tractor, the tractor filter doesn't have to work very hard.
