Got bit by overhead diesel tank contamination.

It seems like the stuff to worry about is anything on or in the filler nozzle, or dust and debris that gets blown up in a gust of wind while filling.

Filters on the tank can't help with those, And stuff does happen like that.

Just got to do what you can and roll with the punches

I regularly drain off the junk in the bottom of my 500 gallon bulk tank and I add Powerservice biocide and Diesel Kleen as well.
AS it should be.

To the OP: Does your diesel tank have a drain at the opposite end? Your tank should be sloped a bit away from the fuel hose end. A valve needs to be installed opposite the fuel delivery end and contents drained off occasionally. Water is going to accumulate in an outside tank so a drain is needed to remove the sediment or you will have problems even with a filter.

Good advise on the tank slope

Very few overhead tanks (of size anyway) left in my area. Double containment is mandatory.

Going to slope it like it used to be.Set it on cement pad now verses boards in the dirt area. Also starting to enclose both tanks to get them out of the weather.
