We've got television, internet, and telephone all from Verizon.

It's a little hard to get used to let me tell you. I just checked my up speed, 14,778.3 KB. I'm paying for fifteen K up. I think I'll call and complain about the slow transmission. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I use photobucket for some of my photo submissions. I'm used to waiting with DSL for the picture to be accepted. With this thing it's "submit" and there's a request for the next photo. Happens faster than I can tell you about it.

I'm seeing the future and it's wonderful.

Harv, tell me more. I only know Verizon as a cell phone company. Are you saying yours is wireless or is yours wired? I'm curious. I'm debating on going from Cingular One cell to Verizon. Maybe they have more in my area.

Verizon is well known for thier cellular- but in some areas they are also a wireline carrier- local phone company. I used to be in the cell business- Verizon was not in the same market, but they have a very good network- not sure about customer service, but who in the cell biz has good customer service?

Verizon is the local phone carrier where I am at. I also have my DSL through them, but this past summer they accidentally turned my DSL service off for a month, through their own admitted mistake. Sure made processing credit cards rough since processing strictly through phone line service doesn't work well on my lines, too much static.... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
I've had nothing but,... trying to be polite here... glitches from them in one form or another for the past several months. I just had to cancel a phone service TODAY that they said would save my business money. It added 45 bucks to my first bill /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif They apologized for that, too. There's lots of folks dropping them around here. Employees leaving the company, too.
Pretty popular cell phone, but I'll stick with Nextel. It works a lot better where I'm at.

So anyway Harv, pretty vague post. What does FIOS stand for? You have television service through Verizon, too?! Fill us in, or is it happening faster than you can tell us about it? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

FIOS is fiber optic from the edge of my house to the telephone central office.

DSL is faster than dial up, compare say your tractor to your wife's Corvette in a drag race. FIOS would be like having the Corvette pulling up to the line when an F16 went over.

A T-1 will get you about 1.5 megabits speed. I'm running 15 megabits internet service while having two phone lines and cable at the same time.

If I email pictures with this service it's faster than sending a regular email DSL speeds.

There's only a couple of places in the country with it. We're one of the smallest but luckiest ones. We've had the fiber telephone and internet service for a year or so. But we just got the television channels this month.

For us it meant a savings of almost fifty dollars a month over what our old internet, telephone, and cable cost. And we've got HDTV for our television we bought four or five years ago finally.

Like I said, it's a whole nother world, and I like it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bragger....... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My only hope is Wi-Fi MAX. Either that or move.

I still don't understand the business model. Instead of grabbing NEW customers with laying wire, these companies continue to compete with each other on the SAME customer base and backbone.

Yes, like you can really see the difference browsing between FIOS and cable..... NOT.
