Tractor
yanmar ym1810
I am now have a yanmar back in my stable. I had sold my 1810 back in the spring and had been looking for a smaller tractor for more mowing work than field work. I had a tractor at a local dealer lined up. Friday it was available, sold my yanmar on saturday morning and I took off to the dealer. By the time I got there the tractor I had wanted was GONE!!!! I then spent the most of the spring and summer looking for a replacement.

Found one earlier this week. I now have a NEW (to me) YM 165 setting in the BARN. Ill have photo tomorrow evening, its late, raining and I am tired.

I got the 165, ymm-45 midmount mower, a small (3ft) green yanmar tiller (not sure of the model #, anyone) and a converted CUB snow blower. also got chains, docs and some misc parts for $2800.

I have a few minor things to fix, seat needs moved back. (actually my belly need to be moved back, but its easier to move the seat). Want to replace the filter and fluids so I know when it was done. Have a head lamp out and want to add the hazard lights back on the tractor.

I do have a few questions on this model. Was there a ROP's ever sold for it? Anyone make a 3rd party ROP? Is there a 3rd party (or yanma) loader for this tractor? Are the blades on the ymm-45 common with any other blade? How available are they?

Thanks

Gary

I have a YMM-45 on my YM1301D. The Yanmar dealer I bought it from said that he had the blades in stock. It is a very sturdy deck, but has some disadvantages.

1. It is a left-hand deck, so the bolts holding the blades on are left-hand thread.
2. The front pto clutch assembly is mounted to the front of the front bumper (I relocated mine back where the battery mounted by raising the battery about 4").
3. It doesn't seem to cut well at the height I like to mow my grass (higher than most I guess), and is very sensitive to blade sharpness.
4. The zerks on the spindles are located between the pulley and the top of the deck. There isn't enough room to get a grease gun under there. I got an extension to my grease gun that has a "needle" point instead of the head that slips over the zerk.

You can see my setup on my web page. I attached a larger version of the photo in my signature.

Currently, I'm working on mounting a 48" JD mower deck under my YM1110D.

A little larger image. No its not bowed in the middle. The front of the hood is up to clear a addon bearing for the front PTO.

Here is a pix of the custom snow blower. It was orginally a front mount garden blower but was converted to 3pt blower.

Glad to see you back on a Yanmar, looks like a nice rig!

That YMM45 has had some significant modifications. I see that the gauge wheels are moved from the outboard position to inside the rear wheels. Also, the front pto clutch has been moved behind the front bumper, which is why the hood had to be lifted slightly in the front. I noticed that all of the sheilds have been removed from the deck. Make sure that your co-hort, and you also, don't get fingers or anything else in there. The tension is pretty good, and you could really get hurt.

That gearbox move from the tiller to the blower is a neat trick. With all the neat work the previous owner did, I'm surprised he didn't put the snow blower up front. The clutch is already there...

I do have the belt shields, I had taken them off to replace the a worn front belt and had not put them back on yet. I didnt notice the wheels being moved thanks for that info.

I am not sure what I will do about the hood. I can cut out a small section to allow it to set down correctly and still go around the pto. Will have to see how easy that will be and what it will do to the look. I guess it couldnt be worse than it is now.

I wish the blower had been up front. Craneing my neck to snow blow doesnt sound like fun.
The MM is also a massy orange and not yanmar red. Not a big issue for me but will repaint it next time it needs it. The hood had been painted but apprently the owner was better welder than painter. Its looks pretty rough. Not sure I can do better but may try one day.
