I finished a big project (installed a new septic tank)and as rewards, I got my wife a new frig and got a Carry All. I hope to take measurements off of it soon so I can pick up some steel to reinforce it.

I would be interested to see what reinforcing you do to it.

I added a receiver hitch to mine and use it all the time.

That looks like it puts a lot of force on the welds at the joints between the uprights and the lower arms. Here's what mine looks like:

I found this simple deck has worked well for me.

I built one of these years ago, it also has a trailer hitch. I honestly never use it any more. My tractor has a 6' bucket and a chainsaw mount along with a trailer hitch in the SSQA cross bar. Any big things are going in the bucket so I dont have to get off and hand unload it.

Yes, she does sag a little when heavily loaded. That bracing would definitely help.

I built mine a little different, When the wood base is loaded, I can drop the deck off and still have my tractor free to use... (4th photo the base sank into the pine needles).

My frame was also used for counter weight... 55 gallon drum sides right in, used a strap to hold it. It also serves as the base of my 15 gallon sprayer... which is modular (boom, water tank and the pto pump connects together on the frame).

Thanks everyone for the replies and the ideas.

I stopped late Friday at the local steel supplier. I got some tubular steel ordered for the vertical and horizontal parts and some triangular steel for where the vertical meets the horizontal. Cost of the reinforcement steel was about $100.
I realize late Friday is not a good time so I paid and told the guy I'd pick the order up Monday after I get off work.

I have one too. I glued a short stack of heavy plywood to make the platform, left the back open, and bolted chains to the upright with multiple grab hooks on each chain, to secure objects on the platform.

If you plan on modifying to exceed design limits, be sure to beef up the area around the 3pt lift pins.
