Give the man a break. Your going to stress him out and he'll end up screwing his job.:D No but seriously, he can't and won't show pics until it is all in one piece. You don't show your baby like that. I assume his got half of the cab apart so he can install the new heater. Keep in mind that jodale cab heater is a over head build-in heater. Mario, finished that baby of yours, were not going nowhere.

Sorry guys, no pics yet, worked on changing my alternator this weekend from the wannabe 20 amp, external regulator style (factory on mine) to a real 45 amp.

Very nervous about it as I had to rewire the charging system but it worked and I didnt blow up my tractor!!!

Pics coming soon. Jodale Perry is sending my new heater unit and it will hopefully be in tomorrow. I hope that fixes my low heat problem in the cab...

Thanks,

Mario

Hi Mario! I've change my alternator to a 35 amps wannabe, as recommended. I never though of doing a research on alternators. Hope I didn't make a mistake.

Are these original "alternators" the same as I have on my 455" Simple bearing magnets and fields and nothing more?

I'd like to get my hands on some of these if anybody is looking to part with their old one.

Anyhow, congrats on teh cab. I investigated a J-P cab for my 3720 a while back, but decided it was too much money to justify without actually having a local demo to observe.

Yes they are simple bearing and magnets. Don't know if it fits on 455. Mine only has 7 hr. on it. My dealer said he would try to find a buyer for me.

That's the same as my 455. Simple device that only had a single bearing to fail.

In talking about "off the grid" stuff, I think it would work well to attach to a wind turbine and make some juice. That's my reason for interest.

Henri,

Thanks for the backup. Your right, I have the roof ripped off now. My new heater arrived today and I got the original one out and replaced with the new heater. Wasn't that bad of a job as it was an exact duplicate. Had to drain the antifreeze down again which is a royal pain in the a$% to refill and purge out air in the lines after.

Now after new heater installed and letting it run for about an hour with the rad cap off to purge air, I get 113 F air temp coming out of the air ducts and the cab temp is approx. 80 F. This is sitting in my shop running (by the 10' overhead door wide open) not out in the wind and frigid temps. I am still concerned that it's not going to heat enough to keep me warm during snow storms.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am dying to finish this heater so my cab is totally installed, then a quick wash and wax and I'll do a photo shoot to share with all my tractorbynet friends, but first I need heat!!!

Thanks,

Mario

Mario, we have receive 10cm of snow during the night.:) I will take the opportunity to make the same test on my jd . In the mean time, can you or anybody out here confirm if there is any difference between the 2520 and the 2305 as far as the engine, radiator, circulating pump, anything that could affect the heat temperature. I'm out blowing snow, will be back in couple of hours. Henri

OK, I will take 5 minutes from blowing to give you the few test I took. After 5 minutes of operation the temp. at the heater 115 f and in the cab 80. It is -5 winds at 18km. I had to do this test in a t- shirt so I wouldn't get a heat stroke;) plus you have the hard side and I have the soft. Put it together, get out there and blow some snow. You have nothing to worry. Henri. ps Don't forget the picture, can't keep it all for yourself.:D Back to blowing snow.:p

Henri,

Thanks for the feedback. I am getting more heat now that with the original heater. My max used to be 100 F so something must have been plugged in the heater core.

The reason, I thought I still had issues is that it took me over an hour to get 113 F last night. Mind you I did have to refill and purge air so I think that chewed up a lot of time. Also, the engineers from Jodale Perry said they have a similar size Kubota with same heater/ cab at their shop and it hits 150 F out of the ducts in less than 10 minutes.

I am going to do some more testing before putting it back together just to make sure it's okay.

Have Fun in the snow, I'm patiently waiting for my turn.

Take Care,

Mario

Mario,

I also have a 2520 with Jodale Perry cab and heater. The cab was installed this autumn. We haven't had much snow yet in this part of Michigan so I haven't yet tried the heater under full rpm/load but just operating the tractor out and about at mid range rpm's I would describe the vent air as "lukewarm". (I guess I should try a thermometer.) I am anxious to see how it performs when the air is colder with snow under full rpm. I suppose it may need the auxiliary pump that Jodale sells but I am not ready to give up yet. In any event , it is much better than the golf cart cover I draped over the sunshield last year.

Walter,

Glad to have someone with the same setup to compare notes. Don't buy the pump. I just came in from my shop and confirmed that the Jodale Perry manual was wrong. I had the hoses hooked up backwards as far as supply and return because their instruction manual is misprinted.

I'm still not done testing but will get to the bottom of it.

Please use a thermometer and measure the air temp coming out of the vents with the temp turned all the way up and the fan on low speed (1st setting). Also measure the temp of the cab air with thermometer sitting on the seat.

Thanks,

Mario
