my sons are in their 40's. I have 6 granddaughters, aged 8, 10, 10, 12, 14, 22.
They've all driven the tractor around the yard (except the 8 yo) but haven't 'worked' it. I wouldn't even suggest they try the fergie , with the crunch box, no power steering and it's very long profile with the add on FEL and BH. They can all easily handle the 3016. I stay on it with them, at least the younger ones. The 14 yo is as big as an adult and reaches everything very well and handles it well by herself.
My Fergie was extremely reliable. I had it about 25 years and did a complete tear-down on it about 15 years ago.
So no, it didn't enter into my decision. I just got tired of horsing around the Fergie and wanted something new and easy to use in my old age.
I gave the fergie to my youngest son.
