Ficord may have gotten upset or over acted as to the amount of damage. But boy, some of you proved to match that every bit. In the time I have been here I have seen less cause a thread to be closed. It does not matter if it was a tractor tire and may have worse damage using it but it was not done when using it or handled professionally at the dealership. If what he asked for in service demanded addition cost then charge him but do as he hired you to. That is professional.

Ficord, may I make a suggestion and it is only that. Speak to the kid again and tell him you are sorry for losing it. That may have a bigger impression him than you will ever know. You never know what he may be facing in life.

I agree with 87.5% of your premise. And if you look at the first two pages of posts, people were fairly sympathetic to the OP's position, suggested he speak to the owner of the dealership, etc.

The wheels fell off the cart at the end of Page 2 when two things happened:

First, pictures were posted of the "gouge" which amounts to not much more than a careless scrape on a portion of the tire that is inches thick with solid rubber (on the lug) and bears no load (on the shoulder near the end of the lug). Clearly, several things happened to create this situation that would have upset me as a consumer. I absolutely would have spoken to the owner/manager about this situation, the lack of care, the lack of concern, and generally make my feelings known.

Second, the OP shared that he issued an exceptionally derogitory comment to the individual whom he felt was responsible for the damage. I consider myself of even temperment, but I can get fired up over certain things, especially poor or disrespectful attitudes from America's youth. I have never in my life felt it warranted in a consumer situation to call anyone a piece of poo. That is just ill and exceedingly uncalled for given the level of damage inflicted. Not calling anyone right, there, for what led up to the incident, but there is a certain line crossed that probably is beyond most of the folks here.

In light of these two things, the OP was pasted to the "negative" side of the fence and the messages started flowing.

Not taking sides, but the OP didn't exactly stay out of the fray and have horrible people tread all over his innocence...

In the end, comments like this in conjuction with the original over-reaction to the inflicted damage makes up the 12.5% of me that does NOT agree with your thoughts in this instance.

All that said, I'm not sure why the flames are fanned so high on this one. We all need to take a chill pill.

I have to back at you a good post here.. But the wheels fell off for me at waxing the rims. :D :D :D

I have to say I kind of side with Ficord on this one. He didn't go off the deep end and tried to let the guy know what he did was wrong probably hoping for an apology or some empathy from the guy. I saw the picture of the mark on the tire and while its not damaged it would still tick me off the guy didn't listen to what I requested considering the tire is not his in the first place to treat as he wishes. And then him blowing me off after saying something to him about it would probably require me calling him and siht head as well. While I understand where others are coming from it is still a respect thing and your paying for a service and expect to be treated as such.
If the guy had listened to his customer and waited the mark wouldn't be there at all and it wouldn't be an issue.
People treat things they own differently and take care of them differently but when your providing a service you treat other peoples items with care just because its the respectful thing to do.

Maybe this will help people to understand I also wax under the fenders, under the hood, back of the fel, backhoe, cab glass, all pistons, 2005 with 300 hrs on the clock and showroom condition.
Only thing not waxed is the Fel bucket and backhoe bucket. She also has her own heated garage bay with auto opener remote inside cab , A/C Heat, Satellite Radio, Cd player, full gauges and tinted glass.
And yes I'm d*mn proud of it. I want to keep it that way , And don't mess up my rims, That's just the way it is.
Some people have a 61 Vette in the garage I have my Kubota.
By the way, to the person who commented on the so called rust in the tire picture, that is where the backhoe mounts and gets that way from mounting and dismounting. As I said before it is used every week, 200 hrs this year.

kthompson,
I agree with you Seems to me it would be the first step to a better relationship even if the worker, doessn't initially appreciate it, It would surely put the tire owner in a much better standing with the dealership and the bosses. And work from there. on the issue.I looked at the pic, and it doesn't look that bad. But damage is damage.Work it out with the boss.
On a side not my uncle had a car greased and oiled at a big chain. The guy dragged an air hose across the finsh and gouged it pretty deep. He didnt complain, and the scratch is there today.
But It did seem like he was rushed to get he car oiled and greased even tho there wasnt any other customers.

Waxman,

I just love that you changed your name! Shows you have a great sense of humor.

Your tractor looks better now than mine did when I picked it up. Much better. But, I'm in the woods, mud, rocks etc all the time and have it up on a trailer often.

One thing that some folks may have missed and your pictures show. The tractor is good enough for a photo shoot. When a vehicle comes in looking like that, it's obvious that it isn't a manure pit worker. Most intelligent people will notice that and respect it by being more careful. The "kid" didn't, and didn't care. That's the part that is annoying.
