By the way...no one has it in for you. You asked in your first post Should I say something or just forget it

You opened the door...

By the way...he asked only for opinions on what he should do - he didn't ask for every person on the website to bash him because they think the gash is not a big deal.

The immaturity of some of these posts amazes me: to say that ficord needs therapy is a sad attempt of trolling at best. If you actually read his posts without being immediately blinded by him saying something like he waxes his rims, you would see that he did not say what he did to the kid before anything happened - only after he went ahead and had a forklift put the tire on his truck (after asking them to wait for him), and having the kid say "so what" when asked about it.

To suggest that he should have paid extra for asking the dealer to change their normal practices is absolutely ridiculous. The customer always comes first - something as miniscule as waiting for him to return before loading the tires on the truck is not a big deal at all. Not to mention that the dealer's normal practices should not include gashing every set of tires that they load.

I am entirely disappointed in most of these replies. Like TUG HILL ADDICT said, he asked in his first post whether he should say something or forget it, that's it. You're right: he opened the door - but he did not expect to be bashed by a group of posters showing an immense lack of maturity.

I agree with 87.5% of your premise. And if you look at the first two pages of posts, people were fairly sympathetic to the OP's position, suggested he speak to the owner of the dealership, etc.

The wheels fell off the cart at the end of Page 2 when two things happened:

First, pictures were posted of the "gouge" which amounts to not much more than a careless scrape on a portion of the tire that is inches thick with solid rubber (on the lug) and bears no load (on the shoulder near the end of the lug). Clearly, several things happened to create this situation that would have upset me as a consumer. I absolutely would have spoken to the owner/manager about this situation, the lack of care, the lack of concern, and generally make my feelings known.

Second, the OP shared that he issued an exceptionally derogitory comment to the individual whom he felt was responsible for the damage. I consider myself of even temperment, but I can get fired up over certain things, especially poor or disrespectful attitudes from America's youth. I have never in my life felt it warranted in a consumer situation to call anyone a piece of poo. That is just ill and exceedingly uncalled for given the level of damage inflicted. Not calling anyone right, there, for what led up to the incident, but there is a certain line crossed that probably is beyond most of the folks here.

In light of these two things, the OP was pasted to the "negative" side of the fence and the messages started flowing.

Not taking sides, but the OP didn't exactly stay out of the fray and have horrible people tread all over his innocence...
But your loyalty lies with the punk and not with another member of this forum OK I understand you don't get it and you got it in for me.
In the end, comments like this in conjuction with the original over-reaction to the inflicted damage makes up the 12.5% of me that does NOT agree with your thoughts in this instance.

All that said, I'm not sure why the flames are fanned so high on this one. We all need to take a chill pill.

I was going to write exactly what you said and you did it for me. I agree with you 100%

Exactly:confused:

BTW I "get it":)

Now if it was me I'd never have gone to the dealer to get tires loaded...I'd have done it myself and avoided any dealer induced unhappiness. Not saying anyone else should think that way, but thats me. I never pay anyone to do something I can do, and it isn't the money.

As for the POS comment to the "kid". Hope ficord never has to go to that dealer again...never know what the "kid" may decide to do on the sly to get even, in his mind. Sort of like sending food back to the kitchen in a beligerant way, yeah it may get redone and it may also get spit in or worse, ever see any of those "Busted At Work" video shows

I read the whole thing and I get it to. But IMO if I tell a story about a really rude clerk when I was buying a pink tutu..something is going to get lost in translation!!

I think you hit the nail on the head. The "yada-yada-yada" phenomenon.

I took my wife to dinner and our waitress happened to be an old flame...yada-yada-yada, and I woke up in on the sidewalk in front of a bar with a real headache.

I went to Vegas with some buddies and started playing poker...yada-yada-yada, and I'm moving out of my house today.

I work with my old buddy and he got promoted ahead of me the other day...yada-yada-yada, and I'm making bail today.

I went to my dealership and they weren't very careful with my tire...yada-yada-yada, and I called that punk a piece of %*^* as I walked away.

Fill in the blanks with whatever story you want, but in the end, the two ends of the story need to meet. In this case, the obvious question is whether the damage warrants the reaction. I think the collective opinion on that question is clear.

keith- this was how i felt after i first posted and later saw the pics. You couldn't have said it more clearer about several things. Can't help but think there was so many ways we could have handled this in each other shoes:eek:.

Wow, a new tire or free fill for a qtr inch gash on a lug?

If it would make you feel better I would just mention to the manager that the kid was careless even after you made your concerns known. Let him know that your particular about your tractor and some added caution would be appreciated in the future. You'll feel better about getting it off your chest and hopefully the shop will be more carefull next time.

ABSOLUTELY! When you express your concerns to an employee somewhere where you have service done & they are ignored/dismissed, followed by damage - you have every right to expect compensation in some form. Odds are, he knew that he damaged the tire. It is highly unlikely that he put a gash in the tire with the forks w/o realizing it. If I had a customer that mentioned the concern about damageg using a forklift to load their items, I would be sure to do it very carefully.

Based on what was listed here - my money is on the fact that he tried to hide his error. As far as the company goes - they need to know either way - whether he made an honest mistake or he tried to cover it up. Carelessness with a forklift isn't something to take lightly. I would also guess that they will drop the price of the plow as their way to compensate you. If they don't work with you, buy elsewhere.

Two dogs - did you see the pic of the so called damage? He probabably didn't find it significant to the owner even if he did know it.

Okay - I am an ***. I just saw the pictures.

I wouldn't worry about it. I might mention it to try to get a few bucks off of the plow:).

I do, however, agree with some other posters - work ethic is disappearing in this country, but that is another post altoghether.

There were some good stories in this thread, it just took forever to read all 7 pages...

Two dogs let me elaborate further. Have you ever heard the phrase "don't bite the hand that feeds you".

I have a very good relationship with my dealer. They take care of me very well, get my tractor into the shop and serviced quickly if needed, and usually wash it as well before they place it back on the lot. If a nut or bolt is missing they replace it, if something needs greased they grease it, and I'm not billed for these minor items. Now had what happened to the Op happened to me and I had raised the issue with the shop over something so minute, asked for a discount on the plow, free tire fill, free tire, or called one of there service techs a piece of excrement, how do you think I would now be treated when I bring my tractor into the dealer? Just some food for thought.

jk

**Edit** Was typing while you posted your reply two dogs, sorry.
