Got my Tractor, hydrolic line busted after 4 hours use

He also provided me with the following numbers as proof of the year.

C5NN7006, he said the 7 and the 6 on the end signifiys the year of the tractor.

So i did do some research and I did guestioning before purchase.

But when he provieded me with these numbers with the 7 and 6, and said that proves its a 1976. I was satisied at that point that he was telling the truth.

PS I can not find these numbers on the tractor. The engine number is C5NN6015B I think the C is 8speed and the B stands for Basldon England, but I cant fiugre out what the rest mean useing my identifying chart I found.

the model id code identifies the tractor parts, and due to the first number or letter of the code being either a letter E or a 5 tells you if the machine is a 4-68 or newer.

for instance.. 65 to 3-68 the first digit of the id code on a 5000 is the number '5'
on a 4-68+ model, the first digit of the odel id code on a 5000 is the letter 'D'

that alone should have told the seller that he was selling an early unit, not a later one.

then you can check the date code for more definitave date, and then check the sn as it will coinside with the other 2 numbers dates.

plain and simple. the seller doesn't know how to date a ford tractor of that era and goofed up.

you guys need to quit looking at raised casting numbers.

the serial number first digit is what tells you where it was made.

the c5nn6015b is a RAISED casting number and so is the c5nn7006

ONLY, ONLY ONLY refer to the stamped numbers when dating these machines.

your sn is C159450.. thus it's a us machine.. had it had a B prefix it would be basildon.. etc.

again.. sn, model id# and date code are all HAND STAMPED..

that's the only numbers you need to pay attention to. so much wild speculation about a black and white subject...

it's like the blind leading the blind in here....

Yes Sound Guy, You know, ad I know now, that the casting numbers are not how you accurately identify the tractor. I offered that only as what the dealer offered me as proof of identification, after I questioned whether he was really offering a 1976 Tractor. Obviously, he did not and does not know how to read indentifiying numbers either.
But thanks to everyones help, I have the correct numbers to identify the tractor now. thank you all so much.

that dealer is scarry if he is making up stories about the trranny casting number and re aranging the numbers trying to say that is a date.

sad , scarry... , fraudulent....
