Well I finaly found a truck that will plow my driveway and tow my Kioti. A sparkly 1986 Ford F250 with a 351 motor and fisher minute mount plow. Took a long time to find the right truck for me. I put between 1000 and 2000 miles per year on my full size, therefore spending any serious money just doesn't make sense. But I need something where the frame is straight and strong and the tranny and motor will hold together reasonably well. This truck has been owned by our town's forestry department since 1990, when it had 73000 miles on it, it now has 102000. Been stored indoors most of it's life. The brake lines look good, the radiator looks recenty replaced and she's carbureted so no fuel injection fuel lines, which when rotted are a nightmare for me to fix. New set of tires and I should be good to go.

I do like the minute mount a whole lot better than my old plow set up.

I'll install a brake controller and will be ready to haul the Kioti around (just need to find a place to go is all).

Hope all are enjoying the fall.

I still need to install my coolant heater on my Kioti, that will make winter starts super easy.

Have a good weekend,
Joel

Forgot best part of the story, that is, how I picked it up.

I live about 2 miles from the town hall, where the truck was stored.

I got home from work late last night as usuall, played with the mini-boss for a little bit before her bedtime and then put her down.

Put my visor flashlight on my baseball hat, my "don't run me over" red blinking light on the back of my baseball hat, got on the mini-bosses minibike (the one she lets me ride) and drove over to pick it up.

Tossed the minibike into the bed and drove her home. Got half way home when she stalled and went dead, took me ten minutes to realize I had flipped the tank selector when I thought I was turning on the defroster. Flipped back and then all was well.

Was a good adventure.

Your truck looks like it is in very good condition for an 86.
I'm still driving my 1991 F-250 XLT Lariate, 460 motor and 180,000 miles.

A 460 would be super nice to have, torque torque torque, I bet you can pull just about anything you hook up to with a motor like that.

With luck my next truck will be a big block.

Thanks for the picture.

Hope many more happy miles, those motors last a real long time.

Just looked at your picture more closely, she looks like new, real nice truck, it's always amazing how they last if taken care of.

Sincerely,
Joel

Thanks Joel.
Truck runs nearly every day. I plan to be driving it for many more years, so it gets whatever it needs to keep it looking and working good.
Keeping the rust off is the biggest problem.
Penn. Dot uses lots of liquid calcium and salt on the roads here in the winter.

Thanks Brown,

Actually looking forward to the first snow, kinda :)

Taking the boss and miniboss out to dinner tonight to celebrate the boss and I's anniversary.

Maybe I'll make it an extra special occassion and cram the three of us into the cab of the "new" truck. :)

I have a 91 F250 XLT diesel. I love it, even more now that the price of diesel is coming down too. It pulls my ck35 great, but then again I've used a similar truck to pull small dozers... it is the stopping that is a pain.... lol

I've noticed the 250 sits a lot higher than my k2500 did, the front leafs are much stiffer than the front suspension on the K2500. So far feels like a really strong truck.

Looking forward to getting the brake controller installed and pulling the Kioti around, looks like the dozer may be moving on to a new home sometime soon, probably will not have the chance to tow it behind the ford.

Cool, that headlight system is how I got my name of Highbeam. For me it was two flashlights and velcro but the same idea.

I just replaced my Kioti hauler/daily driver with a 2000 model year F350 for cheap money. It's a powerstroke so it eats like a tractor. Trouble is they come tall from the factory. My old GM had a much more reasonable bed height.
