I notice on the Farmall the ubiquitous coffee can cover over the exaust.

A friend of mine tells the story of his father-in-law who would regularly forget to take the coffee can off his Popper and the first pop would send the coffee can thirty feet in the air and he'd have to go fish it out of the tall grass.

His solution was to tie a light chain to the can so he wouldn't have to climb down off the tractor and go find it.

First time he started it up, the coffee can launched itself up in the air, but, tethered by the light chain, it swung around under the tractor and broke the glass covered gas filter.

After that he removed the chain and decided that fetching the coffee can was just part of starting the tractor.

Cliff, you are very observant. That's a real funny story. I've never done it, but I imagined it happening over and over. So I am always certain I check it. Problem is, it anly lasts about a year, then it gets too rusty and have to replace it. That's the night I KNOW I'm having Jolly Green Giant string beans for supper /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hopefully soon, I'll have a home for both the Cub & Kubota so I won't have to have that silly thing up there at all.

Several years ago I repainted a John Deere 2010. To get it in and out of the 7' garage door I had to unclamp the muffler and take it off. Just after I had finished putting on the new decals and polishing it up I pulled it out of the garage and set the muffler down on the manifold with out clamping it, after all I was just going a few hundred feet to put it in the barn. When I revved the engine up to take off the muffler blew about 4 feet up in the air and spun end over end and landed right on the freshly painted hood #%^*!@!!! It left a dent and knocked off some paint. I won't soon forget that lesson. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
