Thinking of getting a GR2110. Have a 4310 for loader work and tractor work. Need a mower. Have an old JD with 48" deck now. 4 WD will be nice although I'm getting by without it now. Questions for those that own a GR 2110:

Reliable?

How difficult to remove, and reconnect deck? Will need to do this to sharpen blades and clean deck.

Glide steer? like it?

Comfortable for hours?

I'm not completely sold on these. What I like is it is a regular mower with no ROPs to get in the way. I was kind of considering a zero turn but much of what I have is probably too rough and steep in places.

Would particularly like to here from those who own a GR2110, but am open to all thoughts and opinions.

Thanks,

Some of them had bad tranny problems I have heard.
I would suggest a used BX1500.

That was the 2100, the GR2110/GR2010 fixed that issue.

The typical buyer of a GR is like you, wants a ZTR but has hills and wants somthing more flexible. The deck is shaft drive and comes off real easy, just like the bigger tractors. The glide steer is cool, you can do doughnuts on asphalt and not fight the front end. Its defentialy worth a look.

Someone near central PA, please buy one, and take good care of my GR2110 for a few years before you sell it to me for a very nice price :D

I'd love to buy one, but can't afford the new price. My unknown-hours G1800-S will need a replacement someday, and by then, we'll see how the GR2x10's hold up long term, and maybe I can get a good deal on one used :)

Messick,
Thanks for the reply I'm comfortable with the upgrades from the 2100.
Also when comparing it to the JD models it has far more features for thousands less.
Yet, I am still hesitant, part of it is, GR threads on here get so little discussion. Do they not sell many? Does your dealership sell many? Have you sold many with the bagging attachment, and are people happy with it. Very specifically when I look at the mounted deck I don't see how you can turn the wheels sideways to slide (roll) it out?

The front end looks to be bolted together aluminum, is it? Has that proven to work well and hold up over time?

Still hoping someone who owns a 2110 will chime in here.

I bought one of the GR2110's in June of last year, and absolutely love it. From what I have noticed, everyone on here tries to talk people into a BX instead of the GR, but I, like you, wanted a smaller mower that would easily manuever around the yard - this definitely does it. The only "problem" I have had it back for was that the PTO lever was not properly adjusted and therefore not fully engaging the deck, so any amount of grass was killing the deck speed. 10 minute adjustment at the dealer and all is well. The glide steer works as advertised, and the tractor is an absolute pleasure to cut my 2.5 acres with - I would highly recommend one.

We sell about 10 a year. The market for this size tractor is pretty small, most people who did buy tractors in this size now go for subcompacts.

Its been awhile since I pulled a deck off, but when I did it was in a customers driveway so it got done without any games.

the aluminum housings are the way Kubota is building their in-house transmissions. Its reliable and easy to work on if you have trouble. Its sealed together using a liquid gasket. The transmission is off-set to the left hand side because of the european direct shoot bagger model.

We've sold a handful of baggers, its a powered system and comes off easy. Can't say I've heard complaints. The front blade is junk, but the snow blower is nice.

The BX is a monster. A lithe lawn mower, it is not. Effective, yes, absolutely. A sledgehammer is very effective at frame nailing, too, but it isn't your first choice.

I can't speak to the GR directly, but I can say that 4WD rocks. I'm amazed at how many times I use it while my tractor is in "mowing" configuration. Mostly, it works great when I'm trying a complex up-hill mow around an obstacle, downhill on wet (so I don't go out of control if the rears slip), and extra front-end control if mowing near a ditchline, for example.
