GR2100
I have a Gr2100 with a problem in the starter circuit. The engine stop time relay seems to stay energized so the stop solenoid won’t release even with the key off. I have the manual and the wiring schematic shows a diode somewhere between the brake switch and the seat switch and the stop relay as if it is just buried in the harness but I doubt that is the case, however, I don’t see any other references to it in the manual and I don’t see anything that looks like it could be it on the tractor. I’m trying to track it down because I think I’ve exhausted all other potential causes.

If you start by checking to see if the stop solenoid does in fact have power to stay energized then you could indeed have a diode problem. If it does not have power then the stop solenoid may have issues. From there you could check with the dealer to determine the actual diode location. The dealer may have suggestions for other potential problem areas.

I have no idea, but is it part of the switch or the solenoid? That is, is it integral with one of the things the diagram shows it connected to?

Have you done this test of the timer relay?

Failed diodes in small tractor circuits usually are there to stop things from happening such as an electric clutch seeing power when it should not rather than preventing starting.
