GR2100 tranny squeal

Gentlemen?.

I know that what most of you have are 途eal tractors and what I have is more or less a glorified lawn mower. However, I have found some of the subjects addressed in this forum quite helpful, so I thought I would at least ask if anyone had a suggestions as to the cause of my trouble.

I have a GR2100 with approximately 100 hours on it. Was purchased in September of 2005. Recently it has taken to making a disturbing nose when it is first started and the ambient temperature is say?ess then 50 degrees. The noise is best described as a high pitched squeal. Here痴 the kicker?it makes this nose at ALL times EXCEPT when I turn the steering wheel. If I am turning the wheels the nose stops immediately and does not restart until I stop moving the steering wheel. I know that the power steering in this unit is tied into the HST and I am sure that has something to do with it, but I am not sure what. After it runs for say 20 to 30 minutes, I don稚 hear it anymore. Any suggestions, thoughts?? Thanks everyone!

Sounds like you are low on fluid.

I would check the level of fluid but I also would have your dealer check it out. There is a 4 year warranty in effect on the GR transaxle and it should be looked at before too much longer.

Thanks YC.....the machine has already been to shop twice for oil leaks in the transmission. The fluid is dead center between the high/low mark on the stick. That was my first thought too.....

Sounds like the HST swash plate/cylinders scored. I would have the dealer install the new bearing type axle transmission and get rid of that bushing type you have.
