GR2120 wih RCK54GR deck: mower gearbox seal replacement

Anyone out there know any tricks on how to split the mower gearbox (mounted on the mower deck) so that I can replace the lower seal? I have the gearbox off, all the bolts removed holding the two together, but I can't seem to split the case. I'm afraid to beat on it for fear of screwing something up. The case halves are not sealed with a gasket but instead with sealant and the factory did a good job of sticking them together. Dealer says case must be split to replace the lower seal (which is leaking) and from what I can tell from the illustrated parts breakdown that looks to be true. Has anybody actually done this on this particular deck or one similar to it? The seal is #130 on the attached file.View attachment gearbox.bmp Thanks in advance!

if you havn,t done gearbox yet i can help i just rebuilt ours and it really wasn't that bad

duvy, I have the gear box out, not sure how to separate the 2 halves. How did you get them apart without doing damage to the case edge?
