Grand L grill guard

I am getting ready to add expanded metal to the grill guard on my Grand L 5460. I have done some searching on TBN but have not found any photos where another member has done this on the Grand L with the folding grill guard. Photos and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Just put 2 pieces of metal ..Should be pretty easy..

This is someone else's photo - you can see the 2 parts... The yellow was where I show him to add more mesh to keep sticks from come up through there (next photo shows mine with the "basket")



Mine does NOT have mesh in front of my headlights... I didn't have a problem up there but did with the lower section. Some of it actually has 2 layers of mesh...



FYI... I used ratchet straps to hold my grill guard up so I can bolt it back on easier...

Hope you are propping that loader up with all that ratchet straps going on.

Blocking that lower space is important like you say. Does tend to catch debris. On the B26 used a inverted V 3x5” angle iron and is self cleaning mostly. On the M59 didn’t really have that option because wanted a front tube bumper to better protect front axle and steering arms. Easy enough to blow out.

Triple S steel supply in Knoxville TN has 2x4’ cut sections of expanded metal and perforated sheet in their showroom. To support the BBQ businesses I guess as they have the weld on hinges, handles, temperature gauges too. The 3/8 x 3x6 x23.5” tube bumper was a drop from there that didn’t have to be cut.

Yes it does.

The grill guard on my M6040 is a folding arrangement. The OEM grill guard is close enough to the tractor grill that it must be folded forward to lift the hood. In the pictures - the lower bolt is what the upper guard swings forward on. The upper bolt is what holds the upper guard in place.

BTW - this design, with the tongue, was by a young fellow at the local welding shop. The "tongue" stops the upper portion of the guard from folding all the way down against the lower portion. The young fellow wanted to paint the upper two quadrants white with big blue eyes. And, of course, the tongue a brilliant red. I'm an old stick in the mud and considered black was just fine.
