FWIW I can't imagine owning a tractor without a 3/4 ton QA FEL and a good set of pallet forks  Pallets and pallet forks are just way too handy.

Search on "Talon GL3240" to see what I've done with my GL3240.

I have to agree with Talon Dance about forks. I am continuing to find more things to pick up with the forks. Ranger Rick

I just bought but have not had it delivered yet a L3940HST with a 724 loader. I took the standard 72" quick disconnect bucket and am thinking of having them put the heavy duty bucket on in place of the standard one but I'm not sure what I would be getting. Is there much differance in them? The heavy duty is about $350 more than the standard. I haven't looked at one yet so I don't know what they look like as far as being heavier etc. Can anyone tell me the differance between the two or just comment on the subject? One other question I'm just curious about. Are the Grand 40's new for 2008 or were they also built before 2008?

I think the 40 series came out last year, they wanted big money for the hd bucket/724 fel/QA set up on my 3540. I elected to stay with the standard bucket (QA) and bradco forks, its a sweet set up and plenty heavy.

The HD bucket is also a bit more substantial if you plan to weld hooks to the top.

And yes, forks are VERY useful to have...the light duty Bradco's seem well suited for the lifting capacity of the 3240.

The HD bucket is substantially stonger than the STD bucket. The top of the HD Bucket is a fairly thick walled PIPE not bent sheet metal. The back of the bucket is DOUBLE walled. The inner wall is round and the outer wall is squared off for back dragging. The HD bucket is pre-drilled for a cutting edge. If you add this, it significantly increases the rigidity of the lower lip of the bucket.

If you plan to mainly lift/move loose material the STD bucket is great. But if you plan to lift large, heavy solid objects which won't fit entirely into the bucket (e.g. 3/4 rocks) the HD bucket is the ticket. I have lifted and moved many 1/2-3/4 ton rocks in my bucket by hooking the top of the rock under the top lip/pipe and rotating the bucket so that the base of the rock rests on the very edge of the lower lip of the bucket with NO deformation of the bucket. OTOH I could have used my forks :)

What is the weight difference. The extra lbs. reduce lift capacity do they not?
