Pickers are quite common around here. Just about every farm over 50 acres either has an old Chysolm Ryder or is partners with another farmer and have another brand. The only reason any one will hand pick around here is if they are selling the grapes at their road side stand. All the other Concords and Niagras go to the processing plants to be come juices and jellys. The wine grapes go to the wineries the same way and get pressed my big presses. The only hand work anymore is tying and trimming. But Chysolms have been around since the 60's that I know of. The earliest were based of the Ford 5000 and I think the International 574. Now there are a lot of different pickers to choose from, there is Korvan, Pik Ryte, Gregorie, NH/Braud, and a bunch of other ones I forgot at the time. THere are self propelled and pull type models of most so the farmers have a lot of options.
