I have a pin-on bucket on my L3010 and put a bucket grapple and tooth bar on it. I find it very functional and use it all the time. The thumb types and the API I have don't weigh much. You loose a little lift weight but gain a whole lot in added capability. I work on woods roads and like having the bucket and grapple on all the time. Dirt, rocks, gravel, stumps, brush, or whatever, makes no difference - I can move it w/o changing anything.

Another vote for Green's Machine Thumb;do reinforce the top of your bucket and a tooth -bar makes it more versatile.

<img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/files/attachments/447688-grapple-bucket-scut-20150531_125723-jpg"/> Here is mine, I LOVE it! I didn't buy the valve or solenoid kit, just disconnected the bucket roll hoses and plugged in the grapple. Add-A-Grapple Bucket Mounted Grapple Attachment
Can you curl the loader at the same time you close the grapple?

He cannot because he switched the hoses for curl/roll to the grapple. However, that is a very clever compromise especially for cleaning up debris or moving logs etc. Yes he loses the ability to come down on a load from the top but he has $600-1000 bucks in his bank account that the rest of us don't.

I would hate to give up the ability to curl it the same time. I curl and close the grapple all the time. He has more than that in his bank account that the rest of don't because he saved the price of a real grapple.

I used it to move large piles of bush to a burn pile, and lift logs for loading on a trailer and cutting with a chainsaw. It was a little hard on the trailer as I couldn't roll the bucket to avoid dropping the log from a foot, but no big issues. Would buy another in a heartbeat. Weight around a hundred pounds.
