I haven't taken delivery of my tractor yet so please bear with me.

I have decided I have to have a gapple. I do not know if the tractor I
bought has the remotes to support one. My guess is that it doesn't, it's a 2001 NH TC29.

How big a job is it to add the gear needed to support a grapple? Is this a do it yourself kind of job or should I take it to the dealer?

I have found "The Thumb"...they are close enough I can drive over and pick one up but I need to understand how big a job this is going to be. Does anyone have any experience with that product? It's looks like a good fit for what I will be doing.

Thanks for all the help! This site has been great find! :)

TC29-dude:

I wish I could help you on the grapple question. You will probably have to add another remote. I am currently "working" "She Who Must Be Obeyed"  for a grapple. This acquisition is going to be a challenge - Jay

I got a diverter valve from W.R.Long the 4N1 Bucket People to run my grapple.
The grapple is a 48" Millonzi.

You can add a remote valve to your tractor for about $500+ if it does not have one. The "Thumb" grapple will cost about $400, and the hoses and fittings to connect the grapple to the remote will be about $250. That makes the grapple addition come to about $1200 and could be even more if you have someone do all the assembly work for you. A turnkey job with the Thumb could run about $1500 or more if you have it done. ...just approximate numbers. Do you weld? How will you attach the Thumb to your bucket? Those are extras to consider.

I tried to document my grapple install in enough detail that it would be a help to others. The TC29 is close enough in size to my Mahindra 2615 that you should be able to mimic (to some extend) the steps I used. My documentation, including control valve install, is located here.

Feel free to ask any questions. I'll do my best to answer them.

Like RedRocker, I opted for the 48" Millonzi Grapple and the WR Long control valve. Doing the install myself, I have right at $1500 total in my set up.
