Grapple/rake and multiflora rose

Well I think I am going to bite the bullet and go ahead with the root rake grapple option. I feel that it will allow me to get under the MF like a tooth bar would but I will have the added ability to grab onto the brush instead of just pushing it around. Just contacted my dealer and he has a 3rd remote waiting for me. Now I just have to find the right grapple!

Farm Journal magazine back in the 1950's had ads and articles about how good multiflora rose was for carefree, cattle-proof fencing. Now I see mostly postings about trying to get rid of it. We almost got some, but didn't for some reason I don't remember.

I don't really know what multiflora rose is (I'm not sure if we have it up north?) but does anyone have a picture of the before and after when clearing they're MF?

I would normally suggest an open bottom grapple with a flat bottom for most circumstances, but it seems like a root rake style grapple is the better alternative for your primary uses. You have a big enough tractor where the extra weight won't matter too much. I can say one thing though, you will be more than happy with the grapple, whichever type you choose. I can't recommend WRLONG grapples enough. I don't have experience with they're root rake style, but they're open bottom grapple has done an excellent job for me, at a reasonably light weight, and plenty strong enough for my little L series tractor.

These pics are not mine, but they are very similar to what I am dealing with. A nasty little booger. The pics really don't do it justice, it is very dense and can stop a tractor in its tracks. Shredding it at the wrong time of year will cause it to "crawl" and it can regenerate from cuttings. It will overrun anything in its path and it requires constant maintenance (spray, shred, burn, uproot, etc) to get it under control.
