Rather than hijack MossRoad's grapple project thread, I though I would start a new one to talk about what the perfect grapple rake would look like for a PT 422/425.

Here's some design criteria:

40"-48" wide
Spaced tines for the bottom to allow sifting of rocks away fron dirt.
Two independant grapple arms each with its own cylinder.
Light weight so not to reduce the carrying capabilities of the tractor.

I attached a pic of something similar to what I was thinking of.

So that the grapple can tightly hold irregular objects.

Here is another example of a rock rake that could be used... But for the 422.425 it has to be small enough and light enough as to not diminish the net lifting capacity of the tractor.

Man, those tines look really wicked!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Here's one made by ANBO Manufacturing being used on a mini skid steer. They make a 48" inch size that would be perfect. Unfortunately they are really pricey /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have the AnBo 5' Lightweight model on my 1845 and really like it. I could have gone with the regular 5' for an even larger "bite".

The 4' lightweight model would probably work on the 425 machines, but you are right about the $$. These are Very well made however, and should last forever. Nice folks to deal with also. You can ship them an adaptor plate and they will weld it on and paint it all up nice. (Have them mount the plate at maximum forward tilt for best results.)

Rip:

Could you post a couple of pictures and describe what the grapple rake is best for? I have a steep hillside full of poison ivy and deadfalls that my wife thinks should look like a formal garden by the time my son's wedding guests walk by it in September.

Not only that, it's been almost a year since I bought an attachment.

Hi Rip,

Can you please post a few photos of your setup? This attachment sounds very useful, and I can think of many uses around the property.

Sincerely,

Rob /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
