I have a JD 5085M with triple mid SCV option. Today at the end of the day, the grapple was slow to open, but it was fine closing.
It is definitely a hydraulic related. So it is either something up with the SCV or one of the grapple cylinders is end of life-ing.

Any suggestions on root causing which?

Thanks,
Ernie

quick disconnects. undo them and then put them back together. it just one of them first things to try, that anyone can do. you more likely see it when you initially hook something up and nothing is happening. so ya redo the QD's. some times QD do not seat properly and allow hyd oil to flow through them correctly. maybe ya snagged a branch that hit them or some sort, who knows what.

just try unhooking them and re-hooking the QD's back together.

if not QD's, then your looking at more stuff that involves more to it. from pressure gauges to a volt meter / amp meter. to check stuff.

do you have 3 levers vs say a joystick and a button for the FEL?

does everything else work correctly? 3pt hitch? raising / lowering curl/un-curl work on the FEL?

I agree start with connectors. Next swap the connectors (connect the hoses opposite) and see if the problem follows as in now slow to open instead of slow to close.

There was a most excellent post from Steve aka Buckitcase just a few days ago about why the QDs give these problems.
