Grapple will open, but will not close however, it works manually when depressing at the end of the spools

Have you checked to see if you are getting 12 volts at the valve when the switch is pressed?
If you are and it still doesn't work check the resistance of the coils on the valve. They should be the same resistance. Why does a grapple need a circuit board?

I guess that they were thinking one day. You know, if we don't put a special module, they won't have to buy a special module from us. We've not been thinking, boys.

Sadly I think there is some of that going on. Take something simple and make complicated or use "special" components to marry you to the OEM.
