Loader Grapple!!!!

My Armstrong Ag Mini Grapple works great for my use. IT is 60 inches and I believe it weighs around 490 pounds. It uses the SSQA and so far has been my primary device for the front of the tractor. Cost was $999.00

Look at the weight lift charts in your FEL owners manual. The "lift capacity" for an FEL is usually listed for a load 24" forward of the pivot pin and 36" off the ground.

With my grapple - the center of the load is usually 12" to 14" forward of the pivot pin. On extremely heavy loads - I lift just enough so the bottom joints on the FEL don't drag. In other words - ZERO lift height.

This has a VERY SIGNIFICANT bearing on the load I can lift. Of course, as any load is elevated the capacity decreases.

BTW - my grapple & WR Long third function was - $4500 installed - five years ago.

Wicked 55 and Long diverter would be about 2,782.00 plus tax and then add labor if you do not install it yourself, not to bad of a price for a quality setup.

I am leaning towards the Wicked 55 grapple which weighs only 239 pounds for my GC1705 and they also have a complet WR Long diverter kit for just under 800.00 which includes hoses or else Summit makes a diverter for half the price but has no hoses. So far this is about the best system I have found for the GC1705.
I am still looking for a ssqa for the 1705, Massey wants 485.00 total but not sure that痴 the best price out there.

Talk to your dealer. Mine got me the SSQA for about $380 and can get me the WR Long kit for about $80 less than EA as well.

If your tractor has the DL95 loader you won't have enough lift capacity to effectively use a grapple. Even that high dollar EA grapple will only leave you 340 lbs of lift capacity.

I think your math is off. Lift capacity at pin is 870lbs. SSQA eats 75lbs or so. Grapple is 225lbs. Even with the attachment forward an inch or 2 your still in the neighborhood of 570lbs or full height lifting capacity. IMG_20191019_185530.jpg

I was working off the 580 lb capacity 20" forward of the pins.

The good thing about that EA Rake Grapple that was linked is that the load is not very far out in front of the pins. With such limited lift it should work better than an L bottom grapple. It will not grab as much volume as an L bottom but the Rake Grapple is a good choice here.

I was just at the dealer on Friday where I bought the 1705 and he quoted me the 485.00 delivered to the shop, I don’t have much for Massey dealers around me this one is about 40 miles from me, maybe I can find one and have it shipped to me cheaper? I will have to look around.
So the WR Long kit can be had for around 700.00 if I spend some time looking? I have all winter so time is not a problem here.

Thanks.

I live in Western NY and buy from Java Farm Supply which has 4 locations all within about 1 1/2hrs from me and is family owned. They've been great to deal with. You can also try getting the part # and checking with Jackssmallengines.com which I've used for filters and parts for my MF and Cub Cadet mower.
