What can I get to pull behind my JD 4410 to rake grass, leaves, small twigs, etc. I use a 6' finish mower to mow and would like to rake up the cuttings or leaves in the fall. Any suggestions?
I bought a 60' lawn genie from Mathews Company. It is basically a flail mower that throws the clippings in a hopper. It was also pretty costly. We did do a little leaf pickup last fall with it and it worked very well. The city dept uses one to pick up leaves in the city parks. I will use it first this spring to dethatch and pick up the small sticks in my yard. Does a great job of picking that stuff up before mowing starts for the season.
Take a look at these… they look like they work good, the larger ones do a great job haying. http://www.wikco.com/rake.html
I have not seen these small ones yet but I think they look OK. KennyV.
I have 5 acres of what used to be a nursery with 100's of trees of various types. All of which dump loads of leaves, small branhes and pine needles every fall. I purchased a Cyclone rake about 4 years ago and it does an excellent job of cleaning them all up. What used to take several weekends now takes about half a day. Check it out. http://www.cyclonerake.com/
This looks like what I had in mind. I'll call around locally and see if one of the farm eqpt. dealers have one I could try. Thanks a bunch for the info. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I have a JD 4410 and I use a 6' PTO driven finish mower pulled behind the tractor so the kind of unit won't work for me but the price is'nt too bad for what you get. Thanks for the info.
