Grease confusion

While at Atwoods a few days ago, they had their store brand (Harvest) moly lube for 86 cents per tube. I passed it by to look at what I am currently using (Mystic in red and green tubes -2 types green tube is clear and red tube is red). They were $4.99 per tube so I bought a case of the Harvest brand. I will use that to lube my FEL and lawnmower from now on. I figured that if I grease it twice as often I will still be way ahead. I don't think I need rocket science on grease for a bushing point for it to work as it should.

The Mystic grease does stay on your hands even with soap and water washing but the price is outrageous. I am sure that when I bought my last case of Mystic, I didn't pay $5 per tube for it.

There have been numerous threads on JD polyuria grease and it's favorable comments. A search would be beneficial.

On a loader it tightens everything up because it's thick and it sticks to pins and bushings better than their other two greases. I still use their moly-lith blend for a couple things but for almost everything else it's JD poly. Plus, it's green in color.

Ever since I've driven Fords, I have used the Valvoline "Ford-Lincoln-Mercury" Moly fortified black grease on everything....except when I repack wheel bearings.

I'm surprised that the JD grease isn't green instead of red?:laughing:

The SD Poly is green, well greenish.

Having choices is a good thing. But we have sooooo many with grease. Li soap, Li complex, PolyU, PolyU Shear Stable, and all other metallic or other tickners. The above choices with or without moly and whether or not moly is listed when included and the % of moly or other EP agents. Of course, we also have many choices for headache remedy, LOL

I usually stock up on a case at Tractor Supply when they run it on sale. Never an issue. I do get some John Deere cotton spindle grease by the case for some applications.
