Is anyone else having trouble with the grease fittings on the Kubota Mower Deck wheels? When I try to grease the wheels, the fittings pull out of the wheels. This in itself is not surprising since the wheels are a plastic resin material but what is surprising is that the threads on the fittings are flattened.

happens all the time to mine and everyone else's.

Tap them and replace the zerks

By the way the originals are not threaded they are pressed in

You can drill and tap the zert, standards are 1/4 inch NC.
Or you can cheat and drill it to 15/64 and with a nut driver just screw it in. That works in a lot of locations that you have restricted access.

Thanks guys. Now that I look at the grease fitting I see that it wasn't threaded but rather has a push-on thread of sorts. The idea of oversizing the hole and letting the zerk cut threads into the wheel makes a lot of sense and saves me from having to get tap and handle to do the job.

Yup, same problem here. I've just been dealing w/ it and pushing them back in.
Haven't gotten around to buying some screw in zerks to replace them with yet.

2003 BX2200 with MMM. No grease fittings, no problems either.

On an aside topic, I was attaching my de-thatcher and getting my MMM ready for the first mowing and sucking of the season. Was having issues getting the grease into the zerks. One went, others did not. Was getting ticked as I didn't remember the problem at the end of the season last year. Grease would come out of the gun no problem. Tried adjusting the tip of the nozzle almost everywhere in its travel. Then an aha.... Took the nozzle off my old cheap grease gun and put it on my "premium" grease gun. Voila..... no problems with the zerks taking grease.... all of them. What's inside these nozzle tips? I haven't cleaned and taken the poorly functioning nozzle apart yet but am curious if anyone has some thoughts on this. Usually adjusting the tip works but not this time.
