On a more serious note, if you have good hand strength, the pistol grip is fine if not having to grease too many points. I prefer the lever gun just because when you encounter a stubborn zerk, it helps having the leverage. Gotta get the hose and throw away the rigid pipe.

As far as having to use two hands to pump a lever style grease gun, dont remember ever having to use two hands myself, that is what a leg or the ground is for. :thumbsup:

I never had any luck with the 12v grease guns. Always quit at the worst times.

Just don't grease while wearing your Sunday best and have some hand cleaner and rags handy.

My worst day greasing is better than my best day working :laughing:

5030 I am confused, if I throw away the ridgid tube and use the flex tube how does the process get done when I only have 2 hands? It takes 2 hands to pump right? Now I have to hold the flex hose against the zerk hard...

I am just confused, I am missing the boat here on something silly. Like I think I said, I am a newb to tractors...

If you can afford the BX25 you can afford a $300 air compressor. I have a BX25with over 300 hrs sinc Feb this year. I always lube in the shop area plus all other maint/repairs. There is no reason to lube in the field unless you are away from home 10-20 OP hours, lube times are not all that critical. In fact if you follow the 10 hr on FEL and BH and other imnplements you will waste a lot of grease, and remember that is implement hrs not tractor hours. Not much to lube on the tractor itself. I use a pneumatic gun from Harbor Frieght and their Moly Lube cartriges (cheap). I have found no place where I need a flex hose (I have one on hand in case). There are are a lot of fittings on the FEL and BH, make sure you find them all. Always wipe off the fittings before lubing or you will inject dirt into the joint.. In fact I use lube time as time to wash down the whole rig. Always wipe up excess that comes out; that is how you know the joint is full. Buy a stock of grease fittings of the various types in case one plugs up. When you start to make repairs you will bless the air compressor and your impact wrench. get the heavy inpact sockets or you may ruin a regular one quick.

See you thought you were done spending money. You now have fuel, grease, ATF/Hyd fluid, lube oil, 90W gear lube ( I use on all the 3PT pins and bushings each change), filters. I have had to remove a tire already for repair and replace the FEL center Hyd Cylinder (it blew up the inards, repalced on warranty). My dealer's shop backlog is min 2 weeks and that is when they first get to diagnose the problem; so. guess what I do my own labor for self preservation.

Now is the time to get a torgue wrench not when you have to put back the first lug nuts. After I took delivery I lubed everything as I do not trust any one else. Found several fittings still had the factory paint on them and no grease in the joint. Just about every thing with threads has a torque value in the manual. Recommend you get the shop manual also; has a lot of info not in the owners manual as Kubota protects their dealers on info so you have to take everything to them; not feasible for me.

Gee.... The coupler (if it's worth anything that is), locks on the grease fitting head so 2 hands on the grease gun is proper procedure.

If you can't afford a 300 buck compressor, get a portable air tank and get friendly with the local gas and go and fill the portable tank and run your gun from it.....

Sure is an involved thread about a simple matter, greasing your equipment.

1- The 1134 Coupler needed to be placed in a vise and then laid into with channel locks and it popped loose. Marred the coupler slightly, no biggie. Yep, some guy in Japan or China has a wierd sense of humor!

2- I have an 80GALLON, 5HP nice compressor, tools out the ying yang here I have, even a new tractor and shopping for trailers!~:thumbsup:

3- I think I might retire the new 1134 to being strapped to the tractor or trailer for offsite use if necessary and look into pheumatic or electric for the shop. Now that I have it I can see I want speed and I see at times I will want to flush the diss out of some zerks if I suspect water in it, perhaps after a pressure washing.

Glad you got it going man. I don't have a clue why they are sometimes tightened up like that.

I run two of those, one for the high pressure grease and the other for general purpose grease. When I bought them, they were $12 each. I did replace the flexible hose on the general purpose use because the one supplied was just too short to reach a few zerts on my truck.

So far, both have been running flawlessly and have been in service for three years.

Good to here, I splurged for the longer hose as well.

Does anyone know, are the zerk fittings on my BX25 metric? Also, is there
a brand of zerk fitting that is better than others? I think I should take stock of what my tractor has mostly and get a couple of spares.

My Kubota has a mix of metric & standard zerks :confused2: Found that out after I broke one when I was trying to replace it.
