Always had thoughts about removing bearing seal like in video, hard to understand putting grease zerk on housing (JD Mowers) and using sealed bearings....Think my next deck rebuild I am going to remove a seal on the new bearings like in video.... A set (2) of new bearings is about one tenth the cost of a new full factory spindle.... Other thing that has me perplexed is why zerk fitting is so low and close to deck, just low enough it causes a angle enough so grease gun coupler wont lock on and seal... Going to move the zerks up about an inch and plug the old hole...
Already used the 5/6 bolt/tap trick, the last spindle set I had to replace actually came with 5/16 SAE bolts and not the self tapping ones that freeze in spindle hole and break off head as you try to remove them....
