With lithium makes the grease black and also means it will get all over everything.
Lithium dont make the grease black.
Black grease is usually because it has moly added.
Moly is a very good EP additive. Excellent for pins and bushings and ball joints, where there is alot of extreme pressure. Use moly on the loader, backhoe, etc.
For high speed bearings, like my mower deck spindles, needle bearings in a u-joint, etc I use mobil SHC460. Its a NLGI 1.5. So a little softer than a #2, but not as soft as a #1. And its a full synthetic.
For all other just general purpose stuff, like bushhog tailwheel, swivel casters on the mower, clutch pivots or deck pivots, etc. I have several tubes of various stuff. Some EP, some not. Dont really matter. Sometimes I just use whatever I have it the gun closest to me. But hands down, moly in loader pins/bushings, and synthetic in the highspeed stuff
