Ok, little off center for parts and repairs..... But after manipulation of parts and repairs, there is the issue of getting grease out of clothes.... Anybody have good solution other than TIDE PODS and screwing up washing machine so wife goes into tizzy when her clothes comes out looking like mine (grungy)...

Tried emulsifying hand cleaner on grease, yeah works somewhat, tried different cleaning products with limited success ... Don't really want to resort of soaking cloth in vat of (flammable) mineral spirits....

Thought of coveralls, but don't have any and its 95 to 100ー f. out, need a little air flow....

KrudCutter available at Lowes works great for pretreating greasy spots on clothes. I have also put the Orange hand cleaner immediately on grease when I get it on a good shirt and scrub it well then wash using the Krudcutter and regular Tide laundry soap.

When working on a particularly nasty project I will pre-treat my clothes and build them up for the week and then on the weekend go and run them through the laundry mat washer first.

In hot weather, an oversized pair of bib overalls (worn without underwear) gives good airflow. For my upper body I'll use an old cotton dress shirt. The garments are dedicated for "dirty" work. Stains that don't come out in the wash just stay there.

Goop hand cleaner with a brush will do it.. then let it sit for 15 minutes, then wash, and it's gone..

Shout is what my sweetie uses. Real bad squirt spot and leave overnight before washing. Otherwise squirt as the clothes go into the washer. She washes in cold water and uses the cheapest soap and fabric softener Dollar General sells. My clothes are always clean and fresh and she keeps my drawers full. Wink. Got me a real gem!

Oxyclean MaxForce works well for us. I spray it on the grease spots and oily areas when I take them off in the evening. I spray it and let it sit for a while before they are washed. Seems to work very well.

This is a specific kind of spray, and given that I致e tried most... it is the one which has worked the best for me. There are a couple of Oxyclean versions, but the others didn稚 really get the results of MaxForce.

While this is a good option and suggestion.....I will need several drinks now to get that image out of my head.

I have some dedicated clothes for real dirty work. Before I put them in the hamper, I use an old plastic bristle brush (kind of like for cleaning vegetables) and scrub out stuff with the garden hose. Aside from that, the clothes just get washed separately.

WD40 cuts grease pretty well. Brush it on. Knead it in. Blow it out. Repeat. -- Then detergent and water.

They should still make disposable coveralls and they are lightweight. Other than that...have a dedicated set of "Grungees" and use them for the nasty stuff. When unbearably filthy, wash at laundromat.

We have some hot weather coming up the next couple weeks. Sounds like a commando style approach to my welding apparel is in order when in my shop. The only issue I see is when I come inside and remove the chaps! Good thing kids are moved out and the neighbors do not have any decent line of sight.

Pre soak with Lestoil . My mom used bleach on everything. WE always had the cleanest clothes.:drink:

Back in the day, my Mom always used "Dash" detergent to get the grease and grime out of Dads oil field clothes. Late 50s-early 60s.

I wonder what all that stuff does to septic tank bacteria.

I buy only black clothes for working on anything oil or grease related and use the normal detergents, also have a separate wash machine. I also try like heck not to get much grease or oil on me. I try to be like those professional painters from back in the day where only the tip of the brush got paint on it after a full day of painting.

I've used WD40, then Dawn to pretreat, then soak in tub with 20 Mule Team and detergent, maybe even some ammonia. Yesterday I just sprayed a grease spot on my jeans with Brake Kleen. It seemed to work. Evaporates fast. Will see if the wife notices because I just tossed them in the laundry room.
