My L3130 has a Woods 1016 loader and have a question to others that have this loader.

Here's the problem....The zirks in the front housing of the loader are a real pain to grease.

1)The bucket has to be in a certain position

2)You have to put your hands in between areas that make me uncomfortable.

3)Those holes in the frame fill up(Packed) with dirt everytime.

You have to take a screw driver to clean out the packed dirt everytime.

Ok...What was my question again?

Oh yea....Is there a plug or something that should be covering these access holes?

As far as #2 goes I could put a rigid extention on the grease gun. However this hoses me on other spots of the tractor. Grease guns are cheap I guess.

What does everyone else do?

Thanks
Chris

I have a Woods 1012 FEL on my TC33D. I've run into all of the problems you describe. I use a rigid extension on my grease gun, It lets me reach all of the fittings, but I have to do some jockying of the loader and bucker positions to do it. I've not found anything good to plug the hole around the zerk near the bucket. Mine gets loaded up with dirt also. I'm hoping someone here comes up with a good suggestion (maybe one of the rubber plugs that protect a hydraulic quick disconnect fitting would work, if we could find the right size?)

The zerks are recessed so they don't get knocked off during normal loader use. There isn't likely to be any plastic cap that will stay put that won't be more trouble than having to clean the zerks out every time. You have discovered one of the joys of machine maintainence. Keep a small screwdriver or awl handy, as well as a rag. Do be careful about the position of the loader & bucket however. I use a piece of angle iron along the boom cylinder as a prop when servicing tractors and greasing bucket pins, etc.

John/Rick thanks for the replies.

I'll use a solid extension just for those two fittings. I'm going to try and find a plastic cap as well. If it works great if not I'll be out a buck or two for trying /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
