Greasing tail wheel

Ok so i hooked up to the brush hog today and greased it all up and when I started on the tail wheel I noticed grease was coming out of a small hole that I never noticed last season. It looks like it was drilled but no threads in it, and its real small. My concern is dirt getting in it. Anybody ever seen this. Its on a woods brush bull 72"

I checked that by trying to put one in but the hole is smaller. And there is still one on the wheel just opposite of the hole on the same side of the wheel. My only guess is an over flow

Yeah im pretty sure its a broken fitting now. The way you described it being on the same side and directly opposite the other one. What your seeing is the threaded piece of the old fitting still in the hole. You will need to drill it and use an ease out to remove the old core and replace it with a new one.

So why are there 2 fittings on a single tail wheel?

The last 2 cutters I have owned both had 2 fittings. They were just as you described. One was a woods cutter the other a deere. I presume the 2 fittings make it possible to grease it when its sitting on the ground becase you can always get to a fitting. If one is straight down, the other is up. If one is behind the frame wrk the other isnt. Thats my guess. Anyway, when a fitting breaks off it leaves the core in the threaded hole with a tiny hole thru the center visible. Clean it up real good and you should be able to see it clearly.
