Great Bend 652 spooler Valve issue

/ Great Bend 652 spooler Valve issue #21
Well replaced the cracked cover and started up the tractor and no leaks! Thought that I was in the clear. Not my luck, put it all back together and now the spooler valve are frozen! Will not move. I disconnected the back hoe from the tractor and still will not move. I cracked a couple of line thinking excess pressure but nothing doing. Going nuts. Any idea what may be causing this? None of the 6 valves will move even when the tractor is not running and disconnected.

thanks

that the bolt require torque wrench and manufacturer advice on torque. Also manufacturers recommendation on the O-rings between the sections....

This is exactly what happens when these get tightened improperly....

Did you get these torque numbers???

The key is to tighten these bolts so the O-ring get compressed , but not the valve sections....depending on number of sections (length of bolts), torque is different...

I did. I got it from Great Bend and they told me 40 ft pounds which I torqued with a torque wrench. I backed it off to 30 and that fixed it.

thank you for all your help.

Well got the whole back hoe back together and noticed 2 small leaks coming from the top of section 2 and 4 spool. Very small leak that I will have take care of on a different day.

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you. This forum was invaluable to getting my problem fixed. Tell you one thing, learning about hydrulic systems the hard way

The reason there is THREE bolts, is to eliminate the the possibility of unevenness between the bolts....(4 bolts would be like the 4 legged chair, one leg always to short)...still I think it might be possible to "tune the torque" on the bolts so that current leak eliminates.....unless one of the O-rings is damaged again...

According to the data sheets for that valve, the torque on the bolts, should be about 32 ft lbs. The leaks may stop all by itself.
