I've seen cars listed in my area, west central Illinois, and there are palm trees in the background. If you want to see it they usually say it is "all boxed up and ready to ship".

If it were the real deal they could sell it overnight, locally for just a couple thousand under market.

Definite scam. I've played out several of these and they will absolutely not let you see the car first. First one I tried was a tractor that was in houston. When I said I was near houston and wanted to go see it, they said it was actually in California ready to ship. I opffered to drive to CA to pick it up. It was already containerized and ready to ship and could not be accessed. Bunch of bull. Similar story each time. If they won't let you see it, don't send any personnal info.

Its not a couple thousand under value its more like 5k under i looked cars like that are selling for almost 10k.

It's a scam, duh... one way to check it out is copy and paste the title into google... same title will be posted in many cities and not just in CL.
If they give a phone number... it's most likely real since it would be too easy to catch them...

Pure scam. Happens on CL all the time all over the country. The Ebay part all sounds the same.
I wouldn't even waste time pursuing it, flag it and look for a real deal!

I can see the same add with many products. The 'open a case' quote is common. When you say 'hey I'm nearby, I'll stop and see it' they don't reply or tell you it's sold etc. The price is always a steal, about 50% of value. Ah yes, and the act will be of a stupid woman that doesn't know what it is worth, maybe her husband just left and she's selling his tractor to stick it to him... And she will ship the tractor for free once you send a cashiers check.

The only value in that ad is the fun you can have seeing what kind of lame excuses the scammer can come up with as you apply more and more pressure to see the car or meet or find any semblance of legitimacy. It can actually be quite entertaining.
