Greetings from the Johnson Farm

Morning all! My husband, Gordie, and I (Christine) have just acquired about 7 acres to farm in beautiful Howell, New Jersey. Opportunity popped up late last year, but we jumped at the chance anyway. This is new to us...lots to learn and we should have been preparing last summer. Timing is timing.

We are looking into Co-op/CSA programs for local vegetables and herbs. So any hints, advise, warnings...prayers...would be helpful!

Also have limited equipment. Starting with Deere 1050. Looking for planters, transplanters, 3 bottom plough. If you know any close by...

Greetings from Howell, Michigan. Small world? I think a 3 bottom plough would be too much for a 1050.

Already cleared. Was Gordie's uncle's farm. As he got older, he leased land to other to grow hay. He started with vegetables 60 years ago. Now, we are growing his dream once again.

Was the 1050 his uncle's tractor also? If you have never farmed before there is a lot to learn and some of it will only be learned by trial and error as everyone does things a little different.
