Harv, the two systems are VAX/VMS Clusters. As to what I am going to do with them, well, I've already setup a training database on one, which will be used for training medical personnel from various facilities around the country once a month. Now THAT only puts a wee dent in the storage capacity. The applications (and databases) will take up around 200 gigabyte total, so it leaves a whole lot on one system, and only 70 or so gig on the other. My current plans are to replace one database set (mirror of a military hospital's database) with one from a much larger facility. This will allow testing of proposed applications against the current primary to see if it is adaptable, and or feasable. The interfacing of the various platforms is where the fun comes in. Makes a person learn a whole new language (mainly curse words...which I don't like to use)!
I have set up an FTP site for government use, to allow free transfer of 'adhocs' which are used to pull customized data output from the databases.
Time its all organized, it will use up one tremendous amount of space, BUT, there still will be room to play!
The bigger system will handle up to a 1000 users without much sweat, and it is a jewel when you have less than six users total on it!
