Just trying to find a little information on this hydraulic block. Know very little about hydraulic valves mainly just about cylinders. This was my grandfathers tractor and I’m about to bring it back to life and want to know more about the hydraulic system. It’s a Gresen 2712 M open system due to the gear driven hydraulic pump? Anyway, was curious if it has power beyond and information about adding another valve for a grapple. Thanks for the help. Keep it in English until I’m a hydraulic genius like some of y’all.

The in is on the left and the put is on the right.

I understand. What I was wondering is if there is a port behind the out that might just be plugged. I can't tell from the picture.

If it had a power beyond port it would be in this area and could be stamped with a "y".

None the less, you would have to source a conversion plug and that might be difficult.

I believe Parker bought out Gresen some years back. They might be able to help you find the PB plug if you have the port.

You could use a diverter valve to add third function if you can't add PB.

Something like this is what you’re talking about right?
And if you don’t mind can you explain the meaning of “spool” or is there a thread for new folks to hydraulics.

A spool refers to the part that redirects flow from the valve to the cylinder. For a typical loader you would need two spools. One for boom and one for curl. If you wanted one valve that controls loader plus a third function for a Grapple, you could look at a three spool valve.

A lot must be determined before buying a valve. For instance, you need to match flow rate of the system. The new valve can have a higher flow rate but can't be lower than the tractor. You still would want to be as close as you can to give the best control.
