My deere 430 garden tractors had 20 hp 3 cylinder yanmar diesels and my New to me Zen-noh has an 18 hp 2 cylinder Kubota diesel. I don't notice any difference in power at all. I did like the sound of the 3 cylinder engines better but don't regret getting a torqy 2 cylinder.
The 3 cylinders sounded smoother and were quieter and the 2 cylinder has that distinct sound like an old Johny Popper. Fuel economy is the same, about 1 gallon of fuel for 2 - 3 hours of run time.
Either one of those choices is plenty big enough to handle a few acres. The YM-2000 seems to be a fairly popular and plentiful model too but I'm no expert.
