Mowing Gribaldi/superior sickle bar mower trouble

Good afternoon all!

Having some trouble with our sickle bar mower and hoping for some clues as to what might be happening with it.
It is a GS2401 old style series Superior aka Gribaldi*(pre 1994) mower. It works fine at any RPM with tractor at a standstill, but as soon as you start driving and mowing the bolt connecting the blade head of the guard bar to the power head strips off. This occurs in a matter of a few feet. It has even warped the blade head due to the shearing forces.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

Welcome to TBN.

I have a Superior mower 1999 vintage so not sure it is the same as yours. One time the bolt on the back of the inside shoe came out. This allowed the shoe to fish tail around as I traveled. It could go around far enough to get into the knives and guides. Made a racket and broke some knives. But mine has three bolts for that connection rather than one if I am understanding you.

EDIT: I see now you said guard bar not knife bar. I only have one cross bolt on the guard bar also.
