Funny...but a friend of mine (This was probably 50 years ago) said he saw a "city guy", in SE Oklahoma, try to check in a small mule that he had killed. He said the Ranger checked him through! He later asked the Ranger why he did that, and he said: "Well, the mule wasn't worth much; I checked him through so he would go on home and we would get him out of the field before he killed someone. Besides...don't need the hassle."
That was almost me on snowshoes, up in Vermont many years ago.
