I have a question for anyone that grows cereal rye. The crop I
planted in the Fall for pasture and green manure is about 8" high now. The
goats are loving it. My goal is to til it under at 16". My question is, will the goats continue loving it until it gets to 16", or do I need to mow a patch of it to keep it tender enough for their liking. Will mowing it kill it?

Leave it till the Goats stop eating it.:D

The Deer stop feeding on the Winter rye I plant when it gets about 10 inches tall or there abouts. Whether they now longer find it palatable or if there is better food growing by that time is something I do not know.
