Grubbing and logging. It didn't take too many trips into the woods to realize how easy it would be to back into a branch and break a window. I made a steel frame and welded the expanded metal to it, then made some brackets to clamp it to the top of my ROPS. The bottom has some brackets which use the same bolt holes that attach the ROPS to the tractor, just needed some longer bolts.

Funny you should mention brush hog shields. I just finished attaching a front end shield to my hog today. Used Soundguy's mudflap setup. Don't have a photo of my setup yet, but here's the prototype:

Yep, I followed that thread to completion ... and wondered what the big deal was. Attached is a pic of the front of my hog, the way it was sold to me. Seems to work.

Nice mower. I paid $675 for my 48" KK hog at TSC last summer. KK wants about $240 for safety chains, so it was a no-brainer to use the mudflap approach, which cost about $25 for materials and a few hours of my labor.

Oh, yeh, you guys up north HAVE a TSC /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif No discount farm supply around here anymore /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I bought my cutter as a package deal and they wrote it up for $700 with the wheel and shields. I did add an over running clutch though to save the pto brake.
I'm totally with you ... the mud flaps are a great idea!!!
Cheers!

Got another 3.9 hours of seat time yesterday on this project.
There is a row of pine trees a foot on my side of the property line up there.
After I get it cleared up to the property line there is still a strip about 4 to six feet wide from these trees still grown up with brush and trees on the adjoining property.
Yesterday another one of the owners asked me it I would clear that narrow strip on their land.
I said not unless you want the stuff cleared off. They said they'd like to get rid of it if I was willing to do it.
That's the 3rd one of 4 owners of the 4 lots that border the back of my land giving me the OK to over lap the lot line so I can get it all cleaned up.
I told my wife Suddenly all the neighbors seem to like me or at least my tractor,
or Maybe it's the free use of the tractor and my free labor they like.

Sometimes it's great to do work for the neighbors just to get the seat time, isn't it?

Just got in 2.4 hrs of seat time on the project.
Ready to go out the door to hit it again.
Just got back in the door.
Add 2 more hours to that.
