From day one of owning the gt-235 It would belch a thick cloud of white smoke upon re-starting after using it prior. I run Delvac 15w40 which seems to be working fine, But I sent in an oil sample to blackstone labs and the test came back with high amounts of excess fuel, lead and chrome in the oil which indicate ring and bearing wear. does it sound like I have a bum engine, probobly does not have 20 hrs on it.

I am assuming from your post that there is only 20 total hours on the unit. If this is the case, normal engine break-in could explain the high metal content. Excess fuel also can be explained by the unit needing to be broken in. Typically it takes ~100 hours to seat the valves & rings. If you are running Delvac or Rotella T it may take a bit longer due to the exceptional lubrication properties.

Take the results to your dealer and get their input. Start with the service manager or one of the mechanics and go from there.

The smoke could also be from wet stacking which could also explain the smoke on start-up.

I shot Deere an e-mail, I'll see what they say about things, But like you said its probobly just normal break inn, Although the lab said I should drain it due to the high metal content. I'll report back any nifty findings.

Where within Deere would you 'shoot' an email?

Sounds like a leaky injector to me, maybe the injector nozzle seat has not worn in yet or something. During break-in of a new diesel engine, it is a good idea to add PowerService or some 2-stroke ashles oil to help extra lube the injection pump and the injectors.

You should NOT have any unburned fuel in your oil, especially with those kind of hours. Something is seriously wrong to cause that to occur.

its got me wanting to get the oil tested on my x575 and bx22 as well.

Did you tell Blackstone it was a new engine? I would expect some wear metal in the first 1 or two changes, then it should drop off sharply from there. One of the main reasons for that first quick oil change Deere list, and the another at 20 and maybe 50 hrs. A filter and two qts of oil are cheap piece of mind.

They know its a new engine, but the person I spoke with claimed the metal was high despite that, coming mainly from the bearings and rings, the TBN was still plenty high, like around 11. they also claimed that the fuel present in the oil was high, around 3.8%.
Lead was 21 with the universal average being at 9 for this motor.
Chromium was 14 with the average set at 1.the VIS was low to, not sure what causes that. Im not sure if these results mean something is wrong or not, JD is suppose to get back with me with an answer.
