Had a customer call asking for an estimate to dig a 10'x10'x54" hole for a pre-fabed storm shelter. I go to the job site and the land owner picked a tight spot to place the shelter.

I manage to get the hole dug in about 1.5hrs, he places the shelter in position with the truck crane and I begin to back fill with the FEL. Problem is lack of space caused me to place a lot of the spoils around trees. I am getting frustrated tight spots, carport and trees almost removing the canopy etc. I mentioned to land owner's son, "that lil kubota is what is needed in this tight space".. He eagerly jumps on the ~4 yo. BX1500 (I think) and in no time back fills all the areas I was having difficulty.... The little machine really impressed me..

These little guys are impressive-- I didn't get any pics, but last summer I loaned my 2310 to a fella who levelled about 14 6-wheel dump truck loads of fill over a large depression.... I helped a bit, as well, but he got the whole job done in a bout 5 hrs of seat time. Some rocks were too big; we couldn't lift 'em, so we just pushed 'em!

Never underesimate the power and determination of a BX. Mine thinks it's a D4 dozer at times! If I can have the dirt or stone placed near where I need it, I'm as quick as a bigger tractor. If I have to haul it any distance in the loader, well, it takes a while to move 18 yds of dirt 1/4 yard at at time!!!

Do a search in the 2 Kubota forums for all threads started by blackmajicwoman. He has posted many pics of trenches in hard soil, big rocks, and big stumps he has dug/dug up with the Woods BH6000 bh on his BX1500. You will be even more amazed then!

One thing about the BX1500 is they are so easy to under estamate.

When I got my 2350 I told them not to fill the rear tiers do to the fact that I would be mowing with it and did not want the extra weight. I made a weight box for it that I use most of the time but before I had that I was moving snow and it was only when I was digging in to pure ice that the rear would even start to lift. Since then I have used my little tiller for weight when ever I had to till for someone and kneaded to do a little loader work and that tiller only weighs around 200lb. I have never had a problem with the rear lifting or even feeling tipsy. Just tonight I pulled down hanging limbs with a chain (Some three times the with of the tractor) and loaded the fel as much as I could. Then I hauled the hard wood back the the F-350, That I just replaced the rear springs in today. I lifted the wood as high as the fel would reach and dumped it in all in two wheel drive. This thing never fails to impress me, When guys on the Kioti sight are wondering why they can't make it up a small hill in hi and I am delivering a full bucket of green wood to my mother on a hill that is twice as steep in hi! This thing is incredible!

What's wrong here : No counter balance on the rear for the loader. Unsafe at any speed.

Is this or the BX1500 only? I can move amazing amounts of stuff with my larger BX without counter balance.

To the op. the small series tractor Definatly serves a purpose. It is Definatly handy in confined locations.

Lee,

On my BX2200, I have only had a problem when I get to the max weight capacity of the FEL. I have had the tractor simply tilt forward when I tried to lift something too heavy. Now if I am just below that capacity and make a turn on a sloping path, I do have to admit the uphill rear tire has lifted off the ground once or twice with a really heavy load; there I go slowly and keep the FEL bucket just an inch off the ground. It surely does handle better with counterweight, but that rear ballast also makes the full rig too long to get around some curves on some of my woodland paths.

All in all, your word of caution is prudent. Always better to be safe than sorry.
